TriAthy XVIII offers four distinct race distances β from a gentle downstream swim for absolute beginners to a gruelling 100km endurance challenge. There’s a race here with your name on it.
Explore each race β distances, swim course, typical finish times, and who it’s designed for. Find the one with your name on it.
Absolute beginners, fitness converts, and anyone held back by the swim. The 250m is 100% downstream β no upstream at all. The river does the work.
Runners or cyclists adding triathlon to their CV, returning athletes, or anyone who did the TRY last year and wants to step up. A real challenge without dominating your life.
Committed triathletes who want the gold standard. You’ll need structured training across all three disciplines and genuine open-water confidence.
Experienced endurance athletes seeking the full 100km. Requires months of dedicated training, strong open-water ability, and mental toughness. Not for beginners.
Indicative finish times based on 2,087 finishers across all four races at TriAthy 2025
Still deciding? Select any two races to see a direct side-by-side comparison β distances, swim course, finish times, and what the step up involves.
Triathlon is a physically demanding sport. Before registering for any TriAthy race, please satisfy yourself that you are medically fit and physically capable of completing your chosen distance. If in any doubt, consult your GP or a sports medicine professional.
The Race Finder quiz above is a guide only β it cannot assess your individual fitness or medical history. Only you (and your doctor) can make that call. We strongly recommend that first-time triathletes start with the TRY or SPRINT distance and build up in future years.
All TriAthy participants must complete Online Check-In before race day, which includes a medical declaration and waiver. Triathlon Ireland licence or one-day insurance is required. Full details are in the Athlete Guide, published in early May.
