'The Sprint' is the fastest of the TriAthy races with the shorter distances of 750m Swim, 20km cycle and 5km Run. This year's Sprint race also doubles-up as the Triathlon Ireland Sprint Distance National Championships, a key race in the Triathlon National Series and the prestegious Draft-Legal National Championships.
The River Swim takes place in the River Barrow at Athy. The intiial 250m is upstream against the gentle current. Participants then take a single u-turn to face the final 500m downstream.
The cycle consists of a 20km out and back course to the south of Athy on the R417 towards the townland of Maganey.
The Run Course involves a 5km loop to the south of Athy with the final 3km along the beautiful River Barrow towpath.
