All race marshals receive a full pre-event briefing before being deployed to their positions on race day. We want our volunteers to feel confident, prepared and part of the team.
Before Race Day
Marshals will receive an email with their role assignment, reporting time and location in the days before the event. You will be assigned a role based on your experience and availability – first-time marshals are always welcome and will be paired with experienced team members.
On Race Day
A marshal briefing takes place on the morning of the event before racing begins. This will cover:
- Your specific role and location
- Key safety procedures and emergency contacts
- How to direct and assist athletes
- Communication protocols with Race Control
- What to do if you see an athlete in difficulty
What do marshals receive?
- A TriAthy marshal high-vis vest or t-shirt
- Refreshments throughout your shift
- One of the best seats in the house to enjoy the full race experience
- The genuine gratitude of every athlete who passes your station!
Interested in volunteering? Contact us via our online form and let us know you’d like to be part of the marshal team. We’d love to have you on board.
