TriAthy is a fantastic spectacle and we warmly welcome friends, family and local supporters along the course. Here are the best spots to catch the action:
The Swim Start & Finish
The swim takes place in the River Barrow at Athy town centre. The riverbank offers excellent vantage points to watch athletes enter the water and complete their swim leg. The river is never more than 40 metres wide, so you’ll be close to the action.
Transition Zone
The transition area is a hive of activity. While spectators cannot enter the transition zone itself (it is a secure area for athletes only), you can watch from the perimeter as athletes transition from swim to bike (T1) and bike to run (T2). The Mount Line and Dismount Line are particularly exciting viewing points.
The Finish Line
The triathlon finish is located close to the Athy Community Library. There is plenty of space for family and friends to cheer athletes across the finish line. This is where you’ll see the biggest smiles – and the finisher’s medal presentation!
Along the Run Course
The run course follows the R417 road and the River Barrow towpath to the south of Athy. The towpath provides a scenic, traffic-free area where spectators can walk alongside athletes and offer encouragement. Your support really does make a difference!
Please note: The bike course operates under a temporary road closure for athlete safety. Spectators should not attempt to access the closed road sections. Please refer to our Road Closure Information for details.
