Yes, you absolutely can. Many participants – particularly those taking on their first triathlon – will walk sections of the run course, and that is perfectly fine.
TriAthy is about completing the challenge at your own pace. Whether you run, jog, walk, or combine all three, crossing the finish line is what matters. Our marshals and spectators will cheer you on regardless!
Be mindful of time limits
While there is no rule against walking, please be aware that the event operates to a strict timetable to facilitate the temporary road closures and the needs of the local community. If you are significantly behind the pace, our race officials may speak to you about your progress. The key is to keep moving forward.
Water stations are available on the run course so you can refuel and rehydrate along the way. See our water stations article for more information.
Our tip: If you’re new to triathlon, the Try distance (250m swim, 15km bike, 4km run) is a great starting point. The shorter run means less time on your feet and a quicker path to that finisher’s medal!
